Keith has been touring, recording, teaching and performing professionally for the
past 15 years. He lives in Austin , Texas where he works as a drum instructor
and professional session musician. Keith currently plays drums for Grammy
nominated, Columbia recording artist, Miranda Lambert.
Born in New York, Keith began playing drums at age nine. He was playing in
bands by the time he was in 7th grade and remembers making a pact in grade school
with his friend John Hampson about playing music until they achieved their goals
goals of fame and success. That friendship evolved through years of playing
together in various bands and eventually the band NINEDAYS was formed.
Keith's experience performing and recording on a national level began with his playing
in the band. After signing a record deal with Epic /Sony Records and releasing
"The Madding Crowd," the album went gold and featured Billboard's #1 single,
"Absolutely-Story of a Girl." The band supported the album by touring with bands
such as Barenaked Ladies, 3rd Eye Blind, Vertical Horizon and many others.
Since moving to Austin, the "Live Music Capital of the World" in 2001, Keith
has been hired to perform with many artists from the diverse musical spectrum that
the city has to offer. Keith has played with country musicians from Rip Lorick,
who's music embodies the texas hill country sound of Willie Nelson and Lyle Lovett
to Ty Hager, who's satirical bluegrass acoustic sound has been often compared to
John Prine. Recently, Keith was hired to perform at the Zach Scott Theatre by
Nashville country artist, Georgia Middleman. Georgia has written songs for such
artists as Faith Hill, Joe Nichols, Martina McBride, Tracey Lawrence, Terry Clark
and Radney Foster, with whom she also recorded the hit duet, "Scary Old World."
enRRecording has always been the aspect of drumming that Keith enjoys most. His
experience ranges from recording with NINEDAYS in New York to country-blugrass
recordings produced and engineered by Jay Hudson at The Hit Shack in Austin.
Keith's most recent recording work has been done with Roger Blevins producing
two of his recording sessions. Roger has recorded and produced sessions for Nora
Jones and was nominated for Best Producer in the 2004 Austin Music Awards.
Since August of 2004, Keith has been touring nationally with Grammy nominated,
Columbia recording artist Miranda Lambert. Her debut CD, Kerosene, was released on
March 15, 2005 and debuted as the number one country record in the nation on the
Billboard Charts. Miranda is only one of six artists in history to do so. Kerosene reached
Gold Status in December of 2005, and in 2007 was certified Platinum of over 1 million
copies. The album's singles, Me and Charlie Talking, Bring Me Down, Kerosene and
New Strings have recieved major national radio play and the videos have been in heavy
rotation on CMT and GAC, the nation's leading country music television channels.
Keith has recently appeared on national television with Miranda on Good Morning
America, The NBC Today show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno , Nashville Star and on
an ABC television special showcasing the CMA Music Festival. In 2005, Miranda
received nominations for two ACM awards and the prestigious CMA Horizon Award. In
2007 Miranda won the Academy of Country Music Award for Best New Female Vocalist.
On Novemeber15, 2005, Keith performed her single,"Kerosene" on the CMAAward Show
held at Madison Square Garden in New York and televised live on CBS. On May 12th,
2005, he performed the fourth single, "New Strings" on the ACM Award Show, held at
the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and televised on ABC. Keith's most recent television
performances include the 2007 CMA Awards and the 2008 ACM Awards, where he
performed "Gunpowder and Lead," the new single from Miranda Lambert's second album,
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The record, certified Gold in June and won the 2008 ACM
for Album of the Year.
Since taking the position of playing drums for Miranda, the band has performed with
such artists as Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, RascalFlatts, Gretchen Wilson,Dierks Bentley,
Brooks and Dunn, Merle Haggard, Montgomery Gentry, Gary Allen, Blake Shelton and
Lee Ann Womack. In 2005, the band was the opening act on the Keith Urban Alive in '05
Tour and toured the U.S and Canada with country legend, George Strait. In 2007, Keith
toured with Miranda as the special guest on the Toby Keith Tour. In 2008 Miranda is
touring as a headlining act as well as joining up with the George Strait, Alan Jackson
and Kenny Chesney tours.
Keith plays TAYE Drums, SABIAN Cymbals,AQUARIAN Drum Heads,S-Hoop Rims
and VATER Sticks. Keith is so thankful to everyone he has had the opportunity to play
